General Luna 138th Annual Patronal Feast


"Feast, also called festival, is a day or period of time set aside to commemorate, ritually celebrate or reenact, or anticipate events or seasons that give meaning and cohesiveness to an individual and to the religious, political, or socioeconomic community." On September 21, 2020 at about 9:00AM personnel of General Luna MPS led by PCMS Marcelo Alberca Epan Jr., Beat Patrol Supervisor under the supervision of PCPT WISE VICENTE B PANUELOS, COP conducted recoreda in line with the preventive measures against Covid 19: wearing of face mask, face shield and strict observance of physical distancing. Preventive measures against criminality are also observed during the celebration of the 138th Annual Patronal Feast. Activity ended at about 4:00PM.

We the recent positive development on our public health situation. We will bring back the good thing that we have started.

LET'S DO IT AGAIN.

To all Siargao Hardin ng Pagbabago Farmers, it is time to prepare for the next Taboan ng Pagbabago this August 21-22, 2020.

Here is the things we should observe on the next event of Taboan:

1. Only practicing local farmers and fishermen are allowed to display and sell their respective products. No comprador or trader shall be allowed to participate in the event. This event is only for those who are part of the farm organization or individual farmer or fishermen. Individual farmer or fisherman are encourage to join the farm orgs of your respective barangay.

2. The product to be displayed and sold must be locally or Siargao produced, planted, manufactured, crafted, processed and caught.

3. No use of any synthetic packaging's, wrappings or containers except those that can be re-used. We highly encourage the farmers to make handcrafted packaging materials to promote the local craft that will not add to the waste management problem.

4. No display or selling of any prohibited fish, birds, or any animals or plants that is either endangered or essential to the balance of ecosystem.

5. All product that will be displayed should have price tags on it to encourage fair and transparent transactions.

6. Always follow the required health protocol during the duration of the event. Every farm organization must assign one (1) health protocol personnel to enforce the protocols.

DepEd is suspending all scheduled national and regional events


In light of recent developments in COVID-19, DepEd is suspending all scheduled national and regional events involving students from different localities, such as the Palaro Regional Meets, until further notice. The conduct of the Palarong Pambansa in May will be upon the advice of the Palaro board.

However, as announced yesterday, we are proceeding with the National Festival of Talents (NFOT) and National Schools Press Conference (NSPC), since participants are already at the venue. Heightened precautions are being implemented at NFOT and NSPC, which include foregoing elements of the programs that can be avoided (such as parades, etc.).

Decisions on other DepEd activities shall await definitive advisory from the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) that we hope to receive tomorrow, to ensure informed, coordinated and proportionate response.

Caraga Athletic Association Regional Sports Competition 2020


WELCOME to the BIGGEST AND HISTORIC SPORTS EVENT on the ISLAND OF SIARGAO from March 14 to 19, 2020.

The CARAGA ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION REGIONAL SPORTS COMPETITION 2020 will unfold the biggest and grandest sports event of the year in the region involving 9,000 student-athletes of the Department of Education at the 6-hectare lot housing the state of the art gym, convention center, track and field, swimming pool and other facilities including Siargao Sports Academy.
Thank you to Cong. Bingo F. Matugas of District 1, who invested 300 million, for making the Sports Complex a true monument of his commitment to the youth of the island. Also to Gov. Lalo T. Matugas, who made good with his HEALS 911 agenda, where sports are made as to the foundation of a strong youth development program. 

Indeed, the province is blessed to have leaders whose vision is anchored on the philosophy that says "A sound mind in a sound body.”

Come one, come all to the island where the sun rises first in Siargao.
