Siargao Island Medical Center
This is the first ever state of the art and world class healthcare facility in the world famous Island of Siargao.
We have been very proud of Siargao, its tourism prospects and all. But it took President Duterte and Senator Christopher Bong Go to ensure that healthcare of the locals and tourists are taken care of.
Did you know that Siargao is composed of 9 municipalities under the Province of Surigao del Norte? Tapos ngayon lang po magkakaroon ng magandang hospital!
Thank you, President Duterte and Senator Bong Go! Salamat po!

Amazing Race Siargao Successful Event
Five teams of socially savvy, fearless warriors from all over Siargao Islands embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime experience, traversing tourist spots and proving their mettle on a quest to be crowned the all-out champion.
21 youth participants took part in the first-ever Amazing Race for the Oceans in Siargao Island last Sunday, June 27, 2021. The participating teams were composed of students from the Agri-Fishery Department of Surigao State College of Technology - Del Carmen Campus; and hailing from the 9 municipalities in the island of Siargao.
Traveling to multiple stations in the shortest amount of time, each team arrived at a new destination where they must compete in a series of physical, mental - and often emotional - challenges. Each station comes with a challenge that is relevant to themes such as Mangrove Management, Sustainable Tourism, Marine Protected Areas Management, Deep-Sea Mining, Ocean Conservation and Environmental Protection.

DepEd is suspending all scheduled national and regional events
In light of recent developments in COVID-19, DepEd is suspending all scheduled national and regional events involving students from different localities, such as the Palaro Regional Meets, until further notice. The conduct of the Palarong Pambansa in May will be upon the advice of the Palaro board.
However, as announced yesterday, we are proceeding with the National Festival of Talents (NFOT) and National Schools Press Conference (NSPC), since participants are already at the venue. Heightened precautions are being implemented at NFOT and NSPC, which include foregoing elements of the programs that can be avoided (such as parades, etc.).
Decisions on other DepEd activities shall await definitive advisory from the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) that we hope to receive tomorrow, to ensure informed, coordinated and proportionate response.

A cheap way to enjoy Siargao
A cheap way to enjoy Siargao...
Rent a motorbike (sorry if you don't know how to drive motor bike)
*350-400 pesos per day rent will open a window to endless Siargao experience within the entire duration that you have a motorbike.
*50 pesos for 1 litre gasoline. Your 1 litre gasoline can take you to 65 kilometers of Siargao experience if you are using scooters with FUEL INJECTION technology (yamaha MIO soul i, Yamaha MIO, note that there are MiO sporty scooters that consume gasoline like a monster) . 3 litres and you can tour around the island already and get back to your accomodation with extra gas.
Why rent a motorbike?
*You can visit spots that have NO entrance fees. Here are the spots that have good sand and clean waters without an entrance fee. Park and Go at your own convenience. Can go to isolated areas where 4-wheels cannot penetrate.
1. Malinao beach (perfect every sunrise, less people)
2. Cabuntog beach (better during hightide, sunrise)
3. Union beach (go during lowtide and you will enjoy a sandbar bigger than kawhagan)
4. Talisay beach, Union (long beach with leaning coconut trees for photo purposes, good sunset)
5. Pacifico beach (not for kids, strong current, good sand, long beach, perfect during sunrise)
6. Baybay beach (good for kids, long beach, perfect during lowtide, adult will enjoy during hightide, perfect during sunrise)
7. Garcia Beach (good for kids, long beach, perfect during lowtide, adult will enjoy during hightide, perfect during sunrise)
8. Alegria beach (good for kids, long beach, perfect during lowtide, adult will enjoy during hightide, perfect during sunrise)
9. Tangbo beach (good for kids, long beach, perfect during lowtide, adult will enjoy during hightide, perfect during sunrise)
9. A - Caridad beach, Pilar (good during hightide for swimming, long beach, sunrise)
10. Secret spots (there are plenty of secret spots around the island, just follow the national road (high-way) and you will see rockformations, mini falls, path leading to barangay roads and beach areas. BE CAREFUL AND ALWAYS PRIORITIZE YOUR SAFETY, better explore Siargao in groups. Explore Siargao and meet new people. It is better than paying loads of money to a single "common" spot.
Secret Spots to find?
1. Old Mangrove tree in the waters (full of fireflies at night) near the national highway in the northern part of Siargao
2. Sunset heaven (perfect sunset with sun setting in the ocean) in the North
3. Enchanted Tree (with history of kids drowning)
4. Little hawaii (common and easy to find)
5. The sailor from the pacific monument (located in the north, surrounded with private properties)
6. The tip of siargao (only accessible by walking in the beach) North of Siargao
7. TagNok Kingdom (experience a perfect mangrove view with tagnok bites)
8. Cave with thousands of Bats (ask the locals, hard to find, biggest cave I have ever been in siargao) middle of Siargao
9. River in a grassy land (cold waters, leaning coconut, enchanting than maasin) middle of Siargao
10. Mouth of a giant (big cave that leads to the ocean) somewhere in the east
11. Rock pool facing the pacific ocean (perfect for getting nude while enjoying the view, no people around for sure, hidden) somewhere going to North
12. Hidden grassland (between two big rocks, super secret spot, crushing waves in front)
Etc.... im tired typing... go and explore

Remember, your baby is growing inside you
"Remember, your baby is growing inside you-- connect with her and give her a lot of love." -Yoga Teacher Teryn
Numerous studies have shown the benefits of yoga in pregnancy. Yoga is safe during pregnancy and it has shown to improve maternal comfort and decreases maternal pain. It also improves birth-weight and lowers the incidence of preterm labor. Some studies suggest its potential in decreasing pregnancy-induced hypertension.
The Rural Health Unit of San Isidro is happy to jumpstart our first-ever community BUNTIS YOGA class with teacher Teryn! Teacher Teryn is our volunteer yoga guru from New Zealand and had her yoga training in India; most importantly, she is also pregnant at 6 months! 😊
BUNTIS YOGA classes are free and sessions start at 9 AM every Thursday before prenatal check-up at the Women's Center in San Isidro, Siargao Island.
Right now, we only have 15 yoga mats and there are more mothers who would like to join us. For my friends who have extra yoga mats and would like to donate them, you can message me so that we can accomodate more mothers for our BUNTIS YOGA sessions in the island. Namaste! 🍃😌🙏

These doctors have very big hearts
My Leadership Journey batch-mates: Doc Ging, Doc Jennie and Doc Neneng are bigtime specialists in Manila- a rheumatologist, a pediatrician and a pediatric neurologist, respectively. Oscar and Julia are medical interns from Finland who I met in the water while surfing the other day.
After months of preparation, we finally pulled this one off and we are so stoked! Shipping 19 big boxes of medicines and supplies; flying from Manila to Siargao; and waking up at 5 AM to ride the boat to a far-flung island Barangay was not easy. But it was all worth it seeing the happy faces of the 500 patients we saw and the joy of the kids who received school supplies and slippers. This wouldn't be possible without the leadership of Doc Jennie, the steadfast spirit of Doc Neneng, the marketing skills of Doc Ging, the efficiency of Doc Joy and her RHU staff, and all the sponsors and donors who helped us. 🤙😉👌
Salamat karajaw sa ijo hurot! The people of the island- of San Isidro and Del Carmen- will never forget you and your beautiful hearts! ☀️🏝🍍🌴🌊🌺
